More Details

Recognizing the many accomplishments of John McLendon, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) created the John McLendon Foundation in 1999 to create access and opportunity for aspiring minority leaders. The McLendon Foundation offers two programs: McLendon Scholarship Program and the McLendon Leadership Initiative (MLI).

  • Postgraduate scholarships are presented to minority students who intend to pursue an advanced degree in the field of athletics administration. The Foundation annually offers eight (8) postgraduate scholarships in the amount of $10,000.
  • The McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) provides minorities a jump-start to their careers in athletics administration and other enterprises through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network and advance in their career.

To embrace John McLendon's values of Integrity, Education, Leadership & Mentorship, we provide a professional development platform, McLendon Education Series, to create synergy and relationship capital amongst our program participants as they look to elevate within the industry.
