Team Titin

Team Titin, Inc. is a tax-exempt nonprofit dedicated to serving those living with, caring for, or researching titin (TTN) related muscle and heart disorders. Changes in the TTN (titin) gene cause a spectrum of muscle and heart disorders that range from rare to common and can have a negative impact on health and quality of life. Titin-related heart conditions are the most common genetic cause of a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy. While estimates vary, as many as 1 of 500 adults may have this condition.

Team Titin provides services to the Greater Houston area by connecting doctors from Texas Children's to the families in the Houston area affected by Titinopathy.

TCH's own Dr Timothy Lotze was put in touch with the leading researcher for the Titin mutation in Finland, Dr, Bjarne Udd, by Team Titin, so that me may be able to treat those with Titin in his Muscular Dystrophy Clinic.

One of our proudest accomplishments in 2025 was co-hosting the SciFam Conference, our largest and most ambitious event to date. Over four powerful days, we brought together families, clinicians, researchers, advocates, and industry partners to learn, share, and connect. Recorded sessions from our conference can be viewed on our YouTube channel in the “Team Titin SciFam 2025 Videos” playlist. Team Titin also helped fund multiple research grants to come one step closer to a cure!

Team Titin also helps families in Houston navigate raising a child with a rare neuromuscular disease by connecting them with the therapies and supplies they need.
