More Details

St. Vincent de Paul Place (SVDPP) has been a pillar of support for individuals and families in Norwich, CT, since 1979. The organization provides essential services to those experiencing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and other challenges. Through daily meal programs, a food pantry, case management, and harm reduction initiatives, SVDPP continues to meet the evolving needs of the community with compassion and dignity.

In 2024, SVDPP served over 100,000 meals, ensuring that no one in the community went hungry. The food pantry distributed over 250,000 pounds of food, helping families stretch their resources. The organization also provided more than 3,500 case management sessions, connecting individuals with housing, employment, healthcare, and mental health services. Recognizing the growing need for healthcare access, SVDPP expanded its partnerships with local hospitals and Yale University’s Mobile Pharmacy, which now visits twice a month, offering prescription services, medical care, and vaccinations.

In response to the opioid crisis, SVDPP continued its harm reduction efforts, distributing over 5,000 doses of Naloxone (Narcan) and training hundreds of community members in overdose prevention. The organization also launched a syringe return initiative to promote public health and safety.

Through a commitment to racial equity and economic inclusion, SVDPP serves individuals from all walks of life, including immigrants, the formerly incarcerated, LGBTQ+ individuals, and low-wage workers. The organization’s ongoing efforts reflect its mission: meeting people where they are, not where we think they should be.
