Healing Meals Community Project has a dual mission to provide healthy, organic meals to people in a health crisis, while fostering compassion and empowering youth and adult volunteers in our communities.
At Healing Meals Community Project (HMCP), we’re all about building a healthier community through nutritious food and caring connections. Our mission is twofold: providing nourishing, organic meals to those facing health crises and empowering youth and adult volunteers through the joy of service. Our motto, “Healing Meals nourishes with love,” perfectly captures our blend of personal connections, wholesome food, and heartfelt care. Since 2016, we’ve delivered 200,000 organic meals to 2,700 families across 80 Connecticut towns. This year, we’re on track to serve 500+ people with more than 40,000 meals.
Healthy Meals Program: Our Healthy Meals program is based on research showing the profound impact of whole, organic food on the body. Each week our clients receive six nourishing meals delivered by our volunteer Delivery Angels for 12 weeks. Our recipes, reviewed by a Registered Dietician, are packed with whole, organic vegetables, grains, and lean proteins to support healing. We serve clients facing diabetes, cancer, and surgeries, benefiting entire families and promoting generational health changes.
Empowering Youth: Our Youth Development program is a cornerstone of our mission. Each year, around 200 youth join us in our kitchen, working alongside adult mentors to cook and package meals. They also receive nutrition and wellness education. Our kitchen is a vibrant, cross-generational space where youth learn positive communication, collaboration, and coping skills, and the value of caring for others.
Supporting Our Community: Many of our low-income clients lack access to healthy organic meals, so we seek grants and donations to support them. Currently, 80% of our clients receive free meals. Through our efforts, we aim to nourish bodies, foster compassion, and build a healthier, more connected community.
