Susan G. Komen fights breast cancer through research, education, advocacy, and community health and support programs.
Founded in 1982, Susan G. Komen addresses breast cancer on multiple fronts including research, community health, global outreach and public policy initiatives in order to make the biggest impact against breast cancer.
Komen's Research Program has been an essential driving force for achieving the mission of ending breast cancer forever. As a global leader in the fight against breast cancer, Komen's strives to identify and support the best science around the world. Komen has invested more than $3.6 billion in breakthrough research, unlocking the biology of breast cancer and discovering insights that have propelled us toward more effective risk reduction strategies, earlier detection methods and innovative treatments.
Komen's Patient Care Center is a suite of integrated services that work to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Our patient navigators offer breast health and breast cancer information, access to services and resources, financial and emotional support, and more. Komen understands that everyone's healthcare journey is unique and our programs offer individualized care focused on helping to ensure the best possible outcomes for each person. Komen believes that financial hardship shouldn't keep those with breast cancer from getting the care they need and offers grants to help cover daily-living costs through Komen's Financial Assistance Program.
The Komen Center for Public Policy, with grassroots advocates in Houston and throughout the U.S., works with policymakers to accelerate research, ensure access to high-quality affordable care for all patients and alleviate patient burden through robust public policies that recognize both the financial toxicity of treating breast cancer and the systemic hurdles patients must pass through to access their care.
