Momentum Education launched in 2020 to help students from low-income families earn a post-secondary education and secure a job with a living wage. The reality is that only 17% of high school graduates earn a living wage. The key to a job with a living wage is completing a post-secondary program (four-year degree, two-year degree, or workforce certification).
Beginning in high school, we seek to increase Post-Secondary Enrollment. There are three keys to Post-Secondary Enrollment: (1) Career Exploration, (2) Test Preparation, and (3) Application Guidance.
Once students enroll in post-secondary education, our focus is Post-Secondary Persistence. There are two main drivers of Post-Secondary Persistence: (1) Academic Mentorship and (2) Academic Advising. Finally, students receive Career Support to secure a job and living wage. This includes: (1) Career Mentorship and (2) Connections to Internships and Jobs.
Currently, we have 1,200 students in our program with 123 alumni who have graduated from college and are now in the workforce or graduate school. Moreover, we have a 78% post-secondary enrollment rate, a 63% post-secondary graduation rate, and an 52% job or graduate school placement rate.
