We now face unprecedented prices for food, clothing, and other necessities. These conditions are having a heartbreaking effect on families: the national poverty rate among children more than doubled between 2021 and 2022, going from 5.2% to 12.4%. Although we cannot fix the underlying issues affecting our society, we can take concrete steps to address these problems within our communities.

For over forty years, St. Vincent de Paul Place in Norwich has stood at the center of these efforts, providing food, hygiene items, and social services to thousands of individuals across 32 local cities and towns. In 2022-23 alone, we provided almost 100,000 hot breakfasts and lunches to members of our community, as well as over 25,000 visits to our food pantry. This incredible work is made possible by the tens of thousands of hours our volunteers commit every year, as well as the extraordinary generosity of our patrons and supporters.

Hunger, poverty, and hopelessness are often measured in numbers and percentages, but working together we can make a difference where it really matters – in the lives of the countless friends and neighbors who rely on our help every single day.
