Cromwell BSA Troop 26 is sponsored by the Group of Citizens (GOC) the chartered organization.  All activities of the Troop will be performed in accordance with the purpose of the sponsoring organization, as outlined below:

The GOC is a non profit organization formed exclusively for the charitable purpose to carry on the program of the Boy Scouts of America in the Town of Cromwell, Connecticut for Character Development, Citizenship training and Mental and Physical fitness, subject to the provisions of the National Boy Scouts of America charter and bylaws and rule and regulations.  The GOC has been specifically chartered by the BSA for this purpose since 1939.

The purpose for which the GOC is organized is exclusively charitable with the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provisions of any future United States Internal Revenue Law.
