Connecticut Harm Reduction Alliance

The mission of the Connecticut Harm Reduction Alliance (CTHRA) is to promote the dignity and wellbeing of individuals and communities impacted by drug use. CTHRA believes every person deserves a participatory voice in public dialogue regarding drug policies, programs, and practices. Through advocacy, training, and service, CTHRA works to ensure availability, adequacy, accessibility, and acceptability of services and resources to remediate the adverse consequences of drug use.

More Details

The Connecticut Harm Reduction Alliance (CTHRA) was founded in March of 2014 by a group of individuals dedicated to serving the most vulnerable people in our communities.

The group has participated in grass roots efforts that demanded the type of action, resources, and policy changes, that have made Connecticut a leader in harm reduction service delivery.

CTHRA exists to mobilize our collective resources to facilitate the human connectedness that builds trust and provides service that is consistent, dependable, non-coercive, and culturally appropriate. We aim to support our sisters and brothers working in the field by ensuring that our programs and policies do not constrain, but rather stimulate opportunities to build individual and community wellness.

In 2023 we served more that 4000 Connecticut residents in need of harm reduction services. As the state’s largest hand-to-hand distributor of naloxone, our team distributed more than 8,000 overdose prevention kits, resulting in a significant number of lives saved. The organization also works to address the growing issue of food insecurity in Hartford, CT. We currently distribute an average of 500 meals a week to residents in need.

Your contribution will ensure that we are able to continue and strengthen the work that we are doing. Thank you for your support.
