UR Community Cares

Our mission is to connect older, disabled and special needs neighbors with caring community volunteers to provide in-home non-medical support services that enable individuals to live more fulfilled, independent, happier lives at home, by safely “aging in place” with the dignity, care and respect they deserve.

More Details

Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors program offers complimentary at-home services to residents aged 18 and older with temporary or permanent physical disabilities, as well as those aged 70 and above, including veterans. Individuals aged 15 and older can join as volunteers with parental or guardian approval and supervision.

We provide technology education for seniors at our UR Community Tech Center in Manchester, CT, and have established the UR Vision Station where vision-impaired individuals can explore assistive technology with volunteer support. Our Cycling Without Age initiative also creates recreational opportunities to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Our programs are inclusive, welcoming participants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic status, geographic location, or other societal factors. We are dedicated to supporting marginalized and isolated communities. To ensure the safety and integrity of our services, all volunteers and members undergo a thorough background check.
