For All Ages is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization connecting the generations and inspiring action to end loneliness, reduce ageism, and improve mental, physical, and social health.
For All Ages is CT's only nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting the generations and inspiring action to end loneliness, reduce ageism, and improve mental, physical, and social health.
We invite you to join our mission to connect the generations - because
life is an adventure best shared together!
More than 60% of Americans are feeling lonely. That equals more than 2.1 million people in CT alone. Loneliness and social isolation have been identified as key social determinants of health, negatively impacting the health and well-being of people of all ages. Loneliness is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, dementia, anxiety, depression, addiction, and suicide. The negative health impacts of loneliness and isolation are equal to smoking 15 cigarettes/day and are more detrimental to health than obesity.
And having a positive view of aging reduces the risk of dementia and increases longevity by 7.5 years.
Since launching in 2019, we have connected 1,100 older adults and youth/young adults across 66 CT towns for 7,200 impactful hours.
Ending loneliness. Reducing ageism. Improving health.
And we've delivered 12,000 Joyful Notes cards to isolated older adults across central CT.
Ending loneliness is more important than ever before and is an essential component of improving the health of Connecticut's residents of all ages.
Here are a few of the innovative programs and events we're offering in 2023 with a focus on tackling loneliness and ageism:
Our innovative, virtual Tea @ 3 Community sessions run twice a year and connect dozens of college students with older adults across CT. When joining the 12-week Tea @ 3 Community, adults age 50+ and college students are paired based on common interests. These 'Tea-Mates' connect virtually on a weekly basis for 12 weeks and enjoy Community-wide live Zoom events. This program reduces loneliness & isolation and provides a sense of purpose & belonging.
Our Buddies & Bobbers Learn-to-Fish Fishing Derby connects youth ages 5-12 who have not had the chance to fish or experience the natural wonders of the wild with experienced, older adult anglers for a wholesome, health-boosting morning of mentorship and fun.
Our Joyful Notes Project, launched in 2020 to combat loneliness experienced by isolated older adults during the pandemic, has provided 12,000 handmade cards to isolated older adults across central CT!
Our Unite by Light luminary event takes place each December in Simsbury. This luminary event unites the community, brings joy, and creates a brighter world. Residents of all ages come together to light one mile of luminaries along one street in town, many of which have been decorated by older adults. Music and vocal events take place along the mile and engage people of all ages from throughout CT.
