In an effort to accomplish this, opportunities to utilize a full array of resources should be made available and people should be recognized for what they can contribute in a positive way to the community. 3. INDEPENDENCE AND INTERDEPENDENCE RMS is committed to consciously creating situations for people to learn about many aspects of life based on individuals’ present abilities, ways of learning and what they wish to learn. Through mutual dependence, people have the opportunity to experience benefits and growth which supports living to their fullest potential. 4. EMPOWERMENT RMS is committed to individuals being supported in their pursuit of what is important to them. Before acting on personal interests, they will be encouraged to achieve a balance betweens the freedom to pursue what they value, freedom of risk, protection from harm, and consideration of others.
