Malta House of Care Clinic Greater Hartford

The mission of the Malta House of Care Mobile Medical Clinic is to provide high quality, comprehensive, compassionate, primary medical services to every uninsured adult who seeks it at no cost to the patient to alleviate the striking disparities in health care access in the Greater Hartford region. This is accomplished by a van equipped as a mobile clinic that goes directly to economically distressed and medically unserved neighborhoods in Greater Hartford on a fixed weekly schedule.

More Details

The Malta House of Care Clinic of Greater Hartford is a 16-year-old, independent non-profit that is supported 100% by philanthropy. Founded by a commitment of service to the sick and the poor, Malta provides access to critical primary health care at no cost to uninsured adults on a 40-foot van that visits three challenged Hartford-area neighborhoods each week on a fixed schedule. We provide comprehensive physicals; on-site blood, urine, and other testing; referrals for radiology and additional lab testing; vaccinations; medication; and health coaching as well as COVID testing and vaccinations. In 2021, we provided 5,155 free visits to uninsured adults who otherwise might have turned to the ER for care -- or received no care at all. Since our founding in 2006, we have provided 68,045 free patient visits, thanks to service provided by about 50 medical volunteers and a small paid medical staff.
