Hospital for Special Care

Hospital for Special Care’s Charles H. Kaman Neuromuscular Center provides comprehensive care for patients living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular disorders. We’re also leading the way to a cure as one of the largest Healey ALS Platform clinical trial sites in the country.

More Details

The Travelers Championship, MahoneySabol and Hospital for Special Care have raised awareness of ALS since Traveler’s chairman Jay Fishman first made his courageous battle with the disease public in 2015. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is an always fatal progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

We’ve also raised critical funds for patient care and research thanks to the Travelers Championship and the MahoneySabol 5k at the Travelers Championship. Thousands of runners of all ages have come together through the years to fight this deadly disease.  Patients living with ALS and their families have gathered in an accessible venue on Corporate Row, overlooking the iconic 18th green at the TPC River Highlands, provided by the Travelers Championship each year – making memories to last a lifetime.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on patients living with ALS, as isolation has increased significantly and the daily challenges of living with the disease have grown exponentially. We could not bring our ALS community together in person for the 2020 Travelers Championship, and we can’t come together safely this year either. We’ve lost dear friends along the way but we’re not done fighting.

Although we can’t come together this year, we CAN make a difference for ALS care and research.  Join us to raise critically needed funds to support the highly specialized clinical care our patients need and the research that will help us find a cure.  MahoneySabol is still in this fight with us and will match your gift up to $15,000.  Webster Bank and Enterprise will donate an additional 15% to all gifts. We won’t give up until there is a survivor.
