More Details

Since 1994, Soldier On has been dedicated to “Changing the End of The Story” for homeless veterans throughout the country for male and female veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Soldier On works in partnership with the VA and other agencies to provide and coordinating an extensive continuum of care through housing and support services.
Built on a concept of trauma-informed care Soldier On uses best practices to engage each veteran on his or her path to a safer and more stable lifestyle. We offer a variety of housing solutions including emergency shelter and transitional housing to effectively assist at-risk veterans. Through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, Soldier On provides preventive outreach services through case management support and financial assistance to veteran families in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Soldier On works with incarcerated and justice-involved veterans, operating multiple reintegration programs in various jails and prison, along with collaboration with Veterans Treatment Court in Western Massachusetts.

Since 2010, Soldier On has successfully developed, constructed and managed several new and rehabbed permanent housing projects. Our housing approach enables veterans to carry on healthy, productive lives in homes of their own by integrating an array of support services delivered to them where they live. Soldier On’s vision is to ensure that each formerly homeless veteran has access to home ownership through our unique limited equity cooperative housing model. The Soldier On Permanent Housing model creates stability, recovery and homeownership which has created successful outcomes for those who have moved into Soldier On permanent housing.

In the past 12 months Soldier On has implemented and utilized technology to enhance services that are provided to all veterans across Soldier On’s continuum of care throughout Western Massachusetts. Soldier On technology offers all veterans the ability to access programming, case management, and other necessary supportive services in a very efficient and effective way.

Freddie Mac, HLP, and Soldier On launched a relationship to explore opportunities to enable at risk, low-and moderate-income military veterans and military families. This relationship allowed an underserved population of veterans to have access to integrated financial literacy and housing resources to strengthen their financial position, explore opportunities for shelter and homeownership as they strive for long term quality of life.

Soldier On has built a partnership with Brighton Marine in Eastern Massachusetts who has collaborated with Boston Housing Authority on creating 25 units of permanent housing for veterans on Brighton Marine’s Campus. Soldier On will provide comprehensive case management and wraparound services delivered on site and via technology. The project will be completed in the Spring of 2020.
